May 15, 2025

On March 28 th , motionball Co-Founders Paul, Mark and Sean Etherington were honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the lives of Special Olympics athletes and all Canadians with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

What started as an idea to bring athlete and supporters together while making fundraising fun back in 2002, has grown into a national fundraising and educational movement.

For the last 24 years, the brother’s passion and vision for a more inclusive Canada has created
a lasting impact across the country:

1. Over $20 million donated to support countless expenses and life-changing community programming (70% staying in the province it was raised; 25% to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation and 5% to the #NoGoodWay campaign).

2. Supporting more than 47,000 Special Olympics athletes and their families across the country.

3. Working with thousands of volunteers to organize over 500 events in 19 cities and 26 universities.

4. Garnering 22,000 pledges from Canadians to eliminate the harmful and casual use of the R Word through the #NoGoodWay campaign.

While these accomplishments are staggering, we have a feeling that this is just the beginning!

Please join us in wishing a heartfelt congratulations to Paul, Mark and Sean on this well-deserved recognition.
