WHY DONATE
Funds donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation go directly to assist in the training of our athletes and volunteer coaches across Canada. Your money will promote:
Physical fitness, health and longevity
Self-esteem
Friendship and social skills
Employability and a desire to excel in other areas of life
A more enlightened society
Special Olympics athletes have also worked hard to shed negative stereotypes, and no matter the disability, they have shown us what they can do when given the chance. And you are supporting them all the way! Help us bring the joy of sport to one more person with an intellectual disability.

4) Gift of stock
Due to changes to the Federal Budget of May 2006, you no longer pay capital gains tax when you gift appreciated securities to Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
When individuals sell an appreciated stock, mutual fund or flow through shares, they are required to pay tax on 50 percent of the capital gain. However, if they donate the securities to a charity, they pay no capital gains tax.
